Gang robbers
grow emboldened;
Gang rapists
grow established;
Mercenaries
grow professional.
Faith in Police
is shattering;
Faith in rulers
is decaying;
Faith in
justice is disappointing.
Dalits are
canned for cow skinning;
Women are gang
raped on highways;
Angry mobs beat
to death the offenders.
Vigilante
justice gets patronage.
Moral police
enforce their own law
Law of the land
is not given teeth.
Growth of
literacy brings no solace;
Growth of economy
gives no hope;
So does one’s
per capita income.
.
People want
instant speedy justice;
People want
benevolent dictators;
People seek
safety more than freedom.
Must the law of
land stay firm to rule?
Must the
vigilante acts decide the rule?
It rests with
police, rulers and juries.

(Dalits are original
inhabitants of India and by virtue of their low status, had been kept as
untouchable till India got freedom.)
